Introduction & Literature Review: introduction to the subject; breadth, scope and relevance of the literature survey (25%) -An understanding of the aims and objectives of the project. -Aims and Objectives: is there a clear description of the project with clear aims and objectives? -Is the abstract appropriate? -A critical evaluation of current research and advanced scholarship in the discipline associated with the project. -Literature Reviews: is there a critical evaluation of background knowledge, and current research associated with the project? Technical Achievements: the quality and originality of the work, competence of skills and methods employed to conduct the project (30%) -A comprehensive understanding of techniques or methods used in the project. -Technical Skills: is there evidence of an understanding and competent application of the range of techniques and methods used in the project? -Originality in the application of knowledge and a practical understanding of how established techniques and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge. -Volume and Quality of Work and Originality: is the volume and the quality of the work adequate considering the limited time scale? Is there evidence of originality and use of initiative? Results and Analysis: the depth and breath of the results and analysis, and the appropriateness of the conclusions (30%) -A conceptual understanding that enables the students to evaluate methodologies and, where appropriate, propose new hypotheses. -Understanding: has the student shown understanding and evaluation of the work carried out and critical assessment with relation to current knowledge? Presentation: logical structure; stylistic consistency; visual appearance; quality of figures, equations and tables; grammar, punctuation and spelling; consistency and style of referencing (15%) -Transferable skills, such as the use of word processing and, where appropriate, drawing, mathematical and graphical, software packages, general presentation skills and proof-reading skills. -Technical presentation including proof reading, structures, graphs, consistency, and accuracy in referencing.
